REET

Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers (REET) is a state-level written exam. It assesses the candidate's eligibility for teaching primary and upper primary classes. The Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan (BSER) conducts this exam every year to recruit teachers for state board schools.

The REET exam has two levels or papers:

  • Level I or Paper-I (for Primary Teachers aspiring to teach classes I-V)
  • Level II or Paper-II (for Upper Primary Teachers aspiring to teach classes VI-VIII)

Candidates need to fill in an online REET application form available on the official website of BSER (https://rajeduboard.rajasthan.gov.in). They also need to pay the application fee online. Candidates can apply for one of the two levels or both. It depends on their eligibility and career aspirations.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the REET examination, the candidate must be a citizen of India. BSER has not set any age limit for appearing for the exam. However, it has set educational qualification criteria (from recognized institutes). Details are as below:

For Primary Teacher Applicants

  • At least 50% marks in Senior Secondary (or its equivalent)
  • Graduate in (or pursuing the final year of) two-year Diploma in Elementary Education or four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) with specialisation in Education

For Upper Primary Teacher Applicants

  • At least 50% marks in Senior Secondary (or its equivalent)
  • Graduate with at least 45% marks in (or pursuing the final year of) two-year Diploma in Elementary Education or four-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed) in compliance with the NCTE Regulations, 2002
  • At least 50% marks in one-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) with specialisation in Special Education

Exam Pattern

  • The REET exam generally takes place once a year unless there is an urgent requirement to fill vacant teacher positions in the state.
  • The total duration of the exam is 2 hours and 30 minutes (150 minutes).
  • REET is an OMR-based offline exam. It contains 150 objective-type or multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark.
  • Candidates get a +1 score for each correct answer. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
  • Candidates have the option of giving the exam in either English or Hindi mediums.
  • The difficulty level of the REET exam is at par with the class 10th and 12th syllabus for Levels I and II, respectively.

Question Paper Layout

For Level I (Primary)

It encompasses five sections:

  • Child Development & Pedagogy
  • Language I
  • Language II
  • Mathematics
  • Environmental Studies

Each section contains 30 one-mark questions aggregating to 150 questions of one mark each (30 x 5 = 150).

For Level II (Upper Primary)

It encompasses four sections:

  • Child Development & Pedagogy
  • Language I
  • Language II
  • Science and Mathematics OR Social Science

➤ Child Development & Pedagogy and two Languages sections contain 30 one-mark questions. Science and Mathematics or Social Science sections have 60 one-mark questions. It aggregates to 150 questions of one mark each (30 x 3 + 60 = 150).

➤ Language options for both levels are Sindhi, English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Punjabi, Urdu, and Gujarati.

➤ Candidates appearing for the Level II exam can choose subjects in Section IV as per their career interest and field of teaching.

REET Exam Date

The REET Exam dates were announced recently. The exam was postponed due to the pandemic and now, the Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers Exam 2021 is going to be conducted on 26, September 2021 (Sunday).

Eligibility Certificate

The qualified candidates receive passing or eligibility certificates from BSER. They get eligible to teach across all the primary and secondary schools under the Rajasthan Board as per their merit. The REET certificate is valid for up to three years.

Exam Date

The REET exam got postponed twice this year due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. As per a recent announcement by the Education Minister of Rajasthan, the upcoming REET exam date for both levels is September 26, 2021, provided the Covid-19 situation is in good order.

Admit Card

Admit cards will probably be available in the first or second week of September 2021 for the forthcoming exams. Applicants can download and take a printout of the admit card and the hall ticket from the official website of BSER. It will have details of the exam date, time and address of the exam center.

Exam Fee

For appearing in any one level - Rs.550

For appearing in both the levels - Rs.750
