The headmaster of a school is a staff member having the highest responsibility for the management of the school. Role in Planning
The first and foremost duty of a headmaster is the planning required for the operation of a school. They have to plan a variety of things with the help of teachers, parents, students, and the general public. However, planning does not start with the start of the academic year and ends with the end of the academic year. It is a continuous process. The role of the headmaster in planning starts before the school opens. They are responsible for laying down the policies and rules of admission for students. They have to make public the dates of admission and convene meetings with the staff to discuss their programs and activities for the entire year. Since the school calendar can be prepared in advance. The principal must also make sure that all the equipment to be given to the students and teachers are properly functional and adequate numbers are available for all students and teachers. They are also the people who are responsible for setting up the school machinery and setting it into motion. Then, during the year the headmaster needs to attend to every activity and make sure that it is done perfectly. They have to prepare the budget for the year keeping the estimated expenditure in view. Finally, at the end of the year, they have to prepare the reports of the activities conducted during the year, and records have to be maintained which is overseen by the principal.
The principal not only has to plan the exact theoretically but also has to give them a practical method of execution. First and foremost they must organize the instructional work given by the teachers to the students. They will require the teacher to divide the entire year's work into smaller bite-sized portions. They're also required to involve themselves in the selection of methods of teaching, formulation of objectives, classification of students, framing of timetables, etc. The school library and library need to be updated and repairs made if any. Role as a Teacher

When it comes to the relationship with staff the headmaster must work in team spirit and regard the teacher and their. They should strictly not show any washing tendency and give due regard to them, their views and their problems. With respect to the students, the headmaster should consider the teacher and the school has been meant for them and must listen to their difficulties and problems and try to resolve them in the most diplomatic ways possible. They must also provide the necessary facilities required for learning. They must also keep good relationships with the parents of students in the school because they are not only the people who are paying the fees but also people who take care of the student at home, so they must be given respect for their contribution to the students as well as the school.
As the head of the school, they are responsible for all that is taking place at the school and must issue orders which are required to get the compliance of the students as well as teachers. They are the ones who have to ultimately make sure that the students and teachers are punctual in their duties and that all the resources that are available to the students and teachers are adequate.
So as you can see the role of a headmaster in a school is quite big and multifaceted. Every small aspect of the school is governed by them and made sure that there are no problems for anyone at school, and even if so, they are responsible for resolving it as soon as possible.
