TET Exams 2021- All You Need to Know

Teaching is a profession that demands commitment and passion. To ensure that the government educational institutions are equipped with qualified faculty who are capable of giving quality education, eligibility tests are put in place. TET is an eligibility test conducted to ensure that the teachers are capable of handling the classroom. TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) is a selection or eligibility test that is conducted for teachers in various states.

It is held by both the central and state governments to waitlist qualified teachers for schools and universities. TET has two papers, Paper 1 and 2. Those who wish to teach the primary classes (1-5) should clear Paper 1 and those who wish to teach the upper primary classes should clear both the papers.

Eligibility Criteria for TET

Paper I

  • The applicant should have cleared the Senior Secondary examination  (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or should be appearing for the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education
  • The applicant should have cleared the Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or should be appearing for the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  • The applicant should have cleared the Senior Secondary examination (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or should be appearing for the final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
  • The applicant should have graduated in any subject with at least 50% marks and have a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree.
  • The applicant should have cleared the Senior Secondary examination  (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or should be appearing for the final year of 2- year Diploma in Education

Paper-II

The applicant should have any one of the following qualifications to have CTET Eligibility:

  • The applicant should have graduated in the specific subject and passed or should be appearing for the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
  • The applicant should have graduated with at least 50% marks and passed or must be appearing for the 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
  • The applicant should have graduated with at least 45% marks and passed or must be appearing for the 1- year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure)
  • Must have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks or must be appearing for the final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed)
  • The applicant should have passed Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and must have passed or must be appearing for the final year of 4- year B.A/ B. Sc. Ed or B.A.Ed/ B. Sc. Ed.
  • The applicant should have graduated in the specific subject with at least 50% marks and must have passed or just be appearing for the 1-year B.Ed. course.

State Wise TET

The state government has the authority to decide when to hold the tests. The state-wise TET is conducted by the concerned states and the education board of the particular state.

1.What is the syllabus of TET?

Paper I has the following topics:

  • Child Development & Pedagogy

Each topic has various subtopics under it that have to be studied in detail to ensure that you pass the exam.

2.How long is the TET certificate valid for?

The National Council For Teacher Education recently approved the validity of the Teacher's Eligibility Test (TET) certificate for a lifetime.

3.How many times can a person appear for TET exams?

There’s no restriction on the number of times that a candidate can appear for the exam.

4.Is B.ED compulsory for TET Exam?

The salary varies from state to state. However, it ranges from 4600 to 50,000 and sometimes more based on experience and skills.

There is no age restriction for the TET examination. However, the candidate must be at least 17 to appear for the test and must have the qualifications that we mentioned in the above section.

7.What is the minimum mark required to be qualified?

The maximum mark that can be scored is 150 and the minimum that is required to pass the examination is 60%.
