Languages play a crucial role in the life of every individual. It helps us shape our ideas and communicate our thoughts and beliefs. One such language that holds a special place in the hearts of every Indian is Hindi. Every year, the 14th of September is celebrated as Hindi Diwas. On this day, Hindi was selected as one of the languages that were to have official status in the Republic of India. However, the decision to give Hindi the status of official language was not easy. After three years of debate, K.M. Munshi and N. Gopalaswami Ayyangar came to a conclusion where they declared Hindi as the official language of the federal government of India. In that judgment, it was also decided to accept English as an associate official language for 15 years, and during that timeline, Hindiโ€™s formal lexicon would be developed. Once the 15-year timeline was over, the officials of the Government of India decided to use English as the โ€œde facto formal language of India.โ€
