NTA Exam for Teachers

NTA (National Testing Agency) was established in 2019 to conduct various entrance examinations for admission to higher educational organizations. In 2021, NTA will conduct various competitive exams such as JNU-CET, UGC NET, CMAT, JEE Mains, and NCHM. Initially, NEET, UGC NET, and JEE MAINS were conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education).

Exams that NTA conducts for Teachers- UGC NET

UGC NET (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test) is a test conducted for teachers for the following posts:

●   Assistant Professor

●   Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor in Indian colleges and universities

Till 2018, CBSE conducted UGC NET on behalf of UGC. Though, from December 2018, NTA started to conduct UGC NET exams. UGC NET Eligibility

The essential criteria that candidates need to fulfill to be eligible for UGC NET:

●   Candidates must have secured at least 55 % marks in their post-graduation. A relaxation of 5% is given to the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category, Scheduled Caste (SC) category, Transgenders, Persons with disability (PWD) category, and other backward classes.

●   Candidates should be not less than 31 years of age to be eligible for the post of JRF (Junior Research Fellowship).

●   A relaxation of 5 years is given to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWB/OBC and transgenders.

●   A relaxation of 3 years is given to candidates holding an LLM degree.

●   There are no age restrictions for the post of Assistant Professor.

●   Aspirants who have cleared the SET- State Eligibility Test on or before JUNE 1, 2002, are free from taking UGC NET exams.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria-Reservation Policy

The government decides the reservation policy of UGC NET. The seats for the candidates are reserved in many institutions and central universities. The reservation of seats is as follows:

●   A total of 15% of seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled caste (SC) category.

●   A total of 7.5 % of seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.

●   A total of 27 % of seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) and Other Backward Classes (OBC).

●   A total of 10% of seats are reserved for candidates belonging to General-Economically Weaker Sections (General- EWS).

●   4% of seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the Persons with Disabilities (Ph.D.) category.

UGC NET Selection Process 2021

The NTA- UGC NET official notification gives information regarding the exam dates, exam pattern, eligibility criteria, and syllabus. The UGC NET selection process is as follows:

●   Fill up the application form

Aspirants need to fill up the application form for UGC NET by visiting the official website of the NTA-National Testing Agency. There is also an application fee to submit the form.

●   Download the admit card

After registering for UGC NET, NTA releases the admit card for the respective candidates a week before the main exam. Candidates can download their admit cards online by logging into their accounts. However, they need to carry admit cards along with them on the day of the examination.

●   Appear for the Exam

Aspirants have to appear for the UGC NET exam. The exam will be online. The exam includes two papers each of objective-type questions. The candidates have to complete the exam in 3 hours.

●   Check the result

NTA releases the result on its official website. Therefore, candidates who have appeared for the exam have to check the result to know whether they have passed or failed the UGC NET exam.
