PTET- All You Need to Know

Pre-Teacher Education Test is an online entrance examination held by The Government of Dungar College, Bikaner, Rajasthan. The Online Examination is held annually to shortlist applicants that wish to join any Bachelors of Education ( B.Ed) course. Basically, it is an exam for students who are planning to opt for teaching as their profession. The courses offered by the university after clearing the exam are 2 years B. Ed course and 4 years Integrated - B.A B.Ed and B.Sc B.Ed course.

The results of PTET 2021 have been declared. As per official records, over 5 lakh candidates had appeared for the PTET exam in 2021. State higher education minister, Bhanwar Singh Bhati has released the PTET result at Hindi Granth Academy auditorium, Jhalana at 1 pm.

Eligibility Criteria

Unlike any other Government exam, PTET also implements certain basic eligibility requirements for every candidate. The eligibility criteria are set based on the course an individual has opted for and vary for both courses.

Nationality

The applicant should be a citizen of India to apply for this examination. This remains a constant criterion for 2 years B. Ed course, as well as 4 Years, Integrated course.

Eligibility for 4 Years Integrated course:

4 Years Integrated Course

The basic qualification required for applying to this course is Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) with a minimum of 50% for the general category attained from any centrally recognized board of India. In case an individual belongs to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Special Backward Class, Other Backward Class, Physically Challenged, widow or divorce candidate of Rajasthan then their minimum required marks is 45% Senior Secondary examination. Candidates appearing in their Senior Secondary Examination can also fill the form for PTET provided they attain their result by the time Online Counselling Registration is open.

2 Years B.Ed Course

The basic qualification required for applying in this course is an aggregate of 50% in Bachelors or Masters degree obtained from any centrally recognized university and hereafter with the set eligible percentage of PTET examination a candidate will be able to enroll oneself in the B.Ed course. In case of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class, Physically Challenged, Widow or Divorce candidates of Rajasthan, candidates holding a degree from Centrally Recognised with an aggregate of 45% will be eligible. An individual appearing in the final year of their degree course can also apply for the PTET examination. A candidate who holds a degree from distance learning colleges or correspondence courses will not be eligible for giving this examination.

Reservation

Reservation percentage changes as per the number of seats allocated per course for all three fields (humanities, commerce, and science). Seats are reserved only for candidates holding domicile of Rajasthan as per the set norms of the State Government.

How to apply?

Eligible candidates can apply for PTET by either directly going to the PTET website or via notifications available on Government Dungar College, Bikaner’s official website. The web page for the PTET examination is freshly created every year therefore make sure you check the year mentioned on the site before applying. A sum of INR 500 is charged for applying for the examination which is collected via an online gateway. After the application is accepted and processed an Admit Card is generated which enables an individual to sit for the PTET examination. After the conduct of the exam, candidates are allotted admission as per their eligibility and performance in the examination.

The pattern of the Examination

PTET is an exam which is organized annually by Government Dungar College Bikaner. It has an MCQ-based questionnaire with a total of 200 questions divided into five parts where each part consists of 20 questions.

Syllabus for the Examination

Mental Ability: This section of the syllabus deals with the reasoning, judgment and decision making, logical, imaginative, creative thinking, drawing inferences, and generalization abilities of an individual.

Teaching Aptitude and Aptitude Test: This section focuses on the areas of social maturity, professional commitment, leadership, effective communication, interpersonal relationship, and awareness. Basically, this section assesses the social skills of an individual.

General Awareness: All the topics like Current Affairs, Indian History, Knowledge about Rajasthan, Indian assets and resources, famous personalities of India, and environmental awareness are included in this section of the examination.

Language Proficiency: This part of the examination deals with the fluency, vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, and sentence structure of an individual in either Hindi or English depending on what that candidate has selected.
